Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 into the musically inclined family of Newark New Jersey is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. They are also cousins of the singer Dionne Warwick. As a young girl, Houston began singing professionally in her church's choir. Houston sang the backing vocals for Chaka Khosns 1978 single Im Every Woman with her mom. She continued to offer the backing vocals of Jermaine Jackson, Lou Rawls and her own mother and did a brief stint as a model appearing on the cover of Seventeen magazine in 1981. The singer began her career as a vocalist in the band Material. the band from New York called Material in the year 1981. It was this high quality of her work as a vocalist in the band that caught the attention of major record labels including Arista with whom she signed in 1983. This is where she stayed for the rest of her career. Whitney Houston, her debut album released in 1985, was the top-selling album of the debut artist. A number of hit singles, such as Saving All My Love For You How Do I know It's Good to Love You as well as The Most Beautiful Love of All were released on the album. They set the stage for her to beat the Beatles with seven consecutive US top 10s. The album debuted in 1987, and it sold over 25 million copies around the world. The Whitney album of 1987, which featured the songs that I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Where Do Broken Hearts Get to continue her popularity. However, it was The Bodyguard of 1992 that was her breakthrough album and made her one of the biggest-selling performers in the history of music. Although the film and the actress' performance were not highly praised, the soundtrack album featuring her rendition of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You was her top album and single for a number of months. The album sold over 44 million copies worldwide. Her daughter Bobbi was born March of 1993, a year she got married to Bobby Brown. The beginning of her addiction to drugs came in the middle of 1993 and at the time of her death in 1996, she'd become a regular user.
Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN political reporter and anchorwoman.
